Now, decades later, CIA finds out Roth kept his most important secret on microfiche and hid it in one of his vintage Porsche sports cars—only his collection was scattered across the globe following his death. Langley sends one of its top agent, Vanessa Laybourne, to find the car with the microfiche. Only it doesn’t take long for Laybourne to discover that the Russians are looking for it, too, and whatever Roth’s secret was, the Russians are willing to kill for it.
Porsche Panorama, the multiple-award-winning official publication of the Porsche Club of America, has teamed up with bestselling author Alma Katsu and illustrator Victor Santos, creator of the ground-breaking webcomic “Polar” (now a major Netflix® release), to produce “Spy Collector.” The graphic novel is a globe-skirting, Porsche-centric fictional spy tale involving a recently deceased vintage Porsche collector who took to the grave a Cold War-era secret that remains dangerous enough in the present to kill for.
“We are thrilled beyond belief to extend Porsche Panorama’s 64-year tradition of attracting top content-creation talent, this time to a type of storytelling that is both exciting and entirely new to the publication,” said Editor-in-Chief Rob Sass. “Spy Collector” is the first collaboration between Katsu and Santos and will feature a few cameo appearances from familiar faces in the Porsche world.
“Maryland-based writer Alma Katsu knows her way around an espionage tale — she spent 30 years at the CIA, the NSA, and the Department of Defense before becoming a novelist,” said Sass. Her recent horror novel, “The Hunger,” has been called “deeply disturbing and hard to put down” by no less than Stephen King. Katsu’s highly successful book has been optioned by filmmaker Ridley Scott. Valencia, Spain-based illustrator Victor Santos is best known for the neo-noir webcomic “Polar,” a live-action movie version of which premiered on Netflix in January of 2019. His work has won multiple awards at international comics conventions, and his works “Filthy Rich” and “Witch and Wizard” are New York Times bestsellers.
